There are some very direct and immediate charities worth supporting such as www.houstonfoodbank.org/ which is on the ground with a massive force of volunteers from USA-wide. Your money will be spent for immediate care and they are in it for the long haul as well. No big salaries are paid. They have low running costs and every dollar donated to the Houston Food Bank provides the equivalent of three meals for an individual over and above the already functioning SNAP program.
So that makes more sense than donating to some of the ‘Big Box Charities’ with their high salaries and corporate structure, doesn’t it now?
